We new it was coming someday soon. For real fans it's all too soon. Lance Armstrong is near the finish line of his career as he announces this summer's Tour de France as his final professional race.
Let me just say that as a Lance and cycling fan, I'm much more eager for him to be a dad than race anymore. Wouldn't it be great if fans really wanted athletes to put family first?
Not really a Lance or cycling fan beyond being able to recognize that finishing even one Tour de France boggles my mind, much less winning six, so I don't know his personal history . . . but wouldn't it have been much more laudable to put his kids first a few years back and figure out a way to save his marriage to their mother? Does that sound a bit harsh - honestly, I'm not trying to cast stones here (I'm much too aware of my own depravity for that - "there but for the grace of God . . ."), just curious what the read on that is from a Lance fan.

No doubt Jon. He's done it all wrong so the record books would have his name in bold print.
