Michael Spencer, the Internet Monk, has written a very helpful essay on "Looking for the Jesus Connection: How Did Jesus Fight the 'Culture War?'" This is in response to "Justice Sunday" which I discussed previously concerning Kevin Ezell.
If you don't currently read iMonk, I recommend you start.
I'm almost wasting a comment box just to say, "Wow." I really like what iMonk is saying here. Dobson's brand of Christian activism consistently leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and it is those of his ilk that for many years gave me a bad impression of what it means to be a Christian. I thank God that I was led to a church that focuses on Scripture alone/Christ alone, so that I can grow as a disciple.
I remember Pastor Joe addressing the WWJD 'philosophy.' He stated that it's not what Jesus "would" do that should direct us, it's what Jesus DID do. Obviously, Dobson (sorry to be picking only on him, but lately, he aggravates me) thinks he knows what Jesus would do, but as iMonk points out, it seems he is not be paying enough attention to what he DID do.
Thanks for the link. I'll have to keep an eye on what iMonk has to say.
