This looks really good. Reformation 21 is the new online magazine of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals (ACE). It is edited by Derek Thomas, and he explains the purpose of the e-zine in more detail here. They explain the purpose of the e-zine as...
Reformation 21 is an online magazine (ezine) created to serve, edify, and educate Christians by presenting an authoritative reformed perspective, while embracing various denominational positions, on a variety of relevant historic matters, current issues, and thoughtful positions that inform, inspire, and challenge Christians to think and grow biblically."
They also have a weblog, book reviews, an archive of both new and older writings, and counterpoints that engage a cultural issues.
You can read a list of contributors which includes Alistair Begg, John Piper, Mark Dever, Paul Helm, Sinclair Ferguson, D.A. Carson, Al Mohler, and Jerry Bridges.

I used to subscribe to Modern Reformation. I really enjoyed it for about a year, then grew tired of it. It seemed that many of the articles were geared to bemoan any innovations in doing church, that the best way to be a Christian is to be very Calvinistic and very liturgical.
One article on church growth actually suggested that the best way to do so was through having babies (so much for evangelism!).
Dever, Carson and Mohler seem to be very dead-set against Emergent and anything outside of the Reformed tradition.
Do you think Reformation21 will be more of the same or something different?

Bob, I'm edified by various things for various reasons. R21 is probably a new outlet for the same things, but much of what they stand for is very good, biblical, theological, and edifying.
I'm sure they don't see any reason to change what they are saying, but I think we need to hear what they are saying. I think in many ways they can also be corrective when Emergent and the ec start skidding.
Hey, if you need an excuse to have more sex (evangelism), I say use it. That is a good idea for married folks anyway. :)

Bob,
Modern Reformation and the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals are now separate organizations, with Michael Horton heading the former and Ligon Duncan heading the latter. Hopefully we can put something soon on the Ref-21 blog explaining this, as few seem to be aware of this change.
Blessings,
Justin Taylor

Justin,
Yes, I am aware of the separation. I don't know what that means, however, since the authors of the Modern Reformation that I was familiar with are the guys from the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals.
Are you saying that Michael Horton (since Modern Reformation is now a separate entity) has been distanced somehow from Alistair Begg, John Piper, Mark Dever, Sinclair Ferguson, D.A. Carson, and Al Mohler? Are they no longer in the same camp philosophically and theologically? Just wondering. Thanks.

That is one seriously excellent camp to be associated with. I am commenting from a UK perspective. I am part of the Newfrontiers worldwide group of churches.
These men and others, like C J Mahaney for instance, are about as good as it gets for challenging teaching of the highest order.
As to Emergent, it just shoots itself in the foot all the time. The Acts 29 Network is the exception that proves the rule. The rest of Emergent should be learning from the Acts 29 Network as to how it should be done. I think that if that were so then there would be an awful lot less for Carson and the others to come down on.
Just s thought.
