Tim Ellsworth, sports writer at Baptist Press (really the sports guru at Baptist Press Sports), has informed me that he has a new blog up. I'm going to be reading it. He will be talking plenty of sports, but hits other issues as well.
Tim, I'm looking forward to seeing if you say anything about the Tour de France, one of my favorite sporting events. Go Lance! And be kind to the perpetually mediocre Cubs and you and I will get along fine.
Thanks so much, Steve. Appreciate the plug. Just don't read my "about me" page and we won't have any problems.

I sense that Tim is a man of great taste. I sense that he is St. Louis Cardinal fan! Jeff

I'm going to find a way to block any comments that mention St. Louis or the Cardinals. :)

My astros are hot. They're creeping up on your cubs. they had a tie game the other day. I'm not sure how that figures in the standings.

The tie game was suspended, and they replayed it from the beginning today. That's why the Astros and Reds played a doubleheader today.

Tim,
Thanks for the info on the tie. Can I ask you a question? Does a sports reporter from Baptist Press get press access to the World Series or the Super Bowl? If so, I think you have the sweetest job in the world.

John Mark,
We've never tried for the World Series, and I have m doubts if we'd be able to get credentials. Usually you have to have covered a certain amount of regular season games to qualify for credentials, and we don't do that.
BP has sent reporter to the Super Bowl before, although I've never done it. The 2006 Super Bowl in Detroit, however, is mine, so I'm looking forward to that.
I'm trying to get credentials for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Italy, but we've been getting the runaround, and I'm not optimistic. Hopefully we'll fare better for the 2008 Summer Games in China.
So, yes, I have a pretty sweet freelance gig, and am very, very grateful.
