Yes it's true. I'm allowing a Cardinal's fan to take me to Wrigley Field to watch a Cubs-Cardinals game.
Tim Ellsworth, "foaming at the mouth" Cardinals fan and Sports fanatic at Baptist Press who also has a fine blog, has invited me to the game this coming Thursday. He wants to see if our Christian brotherhood will be able to overcome the bitter hatred between the Cubs and the Cardinals.
Tim, I will be praying for you. I consider what Tim is doing as the greatest example of being missional. Tim, may God Bless your missionary work. :)

This kind only comes out with prayer and fasting.

You ought to make it even more interesting... like a wager of some sort. Like whoever loses the series has to shave off half their gotee or dye their hair the color of the opposite team. LOL

I'm not opposed to some kind of wager. Let's give it some thought.

Tim, in regards to coming into work with Cubs blue hair... what would Dockery think? Wait a minute... that would only happen if you lose... I mean, Steve, what WILL your church say WHEN you have Cardinal red hair this Sunday?

My church MIGHT say, "You look like an idiot."
Of course Tim is up for a bet the way the Cubs look lately. But I might be up for something.

Sounds to me like you're lobbying to handicap the game a little, eh? Straight up is too much for ya?
Typical defeatist attitude of a Cubs fan. :)

Unfortunately I have to be a realist. ;)

My brain tells me it's the Cards year (again), but my heart - speaking as a long-suffering Mariners fan - pulls for the Cubs.

The electricity it takes to watch a 3 hour NLCS game on my tv. 5 cents.
The entire jumbo bag of sunflower seeds I ate while nervously watching the game. $1.50
Watching Albert Pujols hit a 3-run homer to send the series back to St. Louis. Priceless

Wow. Amazing. But if they don't win two more games in a row, it will be forgotten. :)

No. Tonight we were playing for the pride of sending it back to ol' Busch. There was no reason to not get the series back to St. Louis for the honor and respect of the stadium. Plus, when you see those 50,000 Astros fans screaming... within seconds of celebrating something they have never tasted before... you just wanted to make them wait one more game.
Do we get beat in game 6? No, but we will lose by 5 runs in game 7 - just like in 85 and 87 World Series. But at least the team came through for us by giving us one more chance to scream our bloody heads off here in St. Louis.
