I just received my pre-publication copy of Mark Driscoll's new book Confessions of a Reformission Rev.: Hard Lessons from an Emerging Missional Church. Mark asked me a couple of months ago if I would read and review this book and another one on emerging church theology (esp Scripture, Trinity and atonement). It will include stuff from Doug Pagitt, Karen Ward, Dan Kimball, and John Burke. Each are writing sections and then commenting on & critiquing one another.
So I hope to begin the Confessions book very soon and plan to blog on it sometime after the holidays. I'm not sure when I will get the theology book, but I'm looking forward to that one too.
steve, i think you're going to LOVE the book. mark really gets honest about the journey he's been through - and there were a few parts i couldn't help but laugh out loud. it was a tremendously practical read - looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Thank Bill. I've been looking forward to this book like few others. I'm trying to get my sermon done so I can get into the book.

Wow, sounds great. I'd love to see both of those. Alas...
Peace,
Jamie

I asked about that theology one (over at the campus lifeway) a week or two ago... I heard Mark talk about it in one of his sermons... I am SO EXCITED to read it! Well, have a fun read.
I am jealous...

I agree with Bill, this book is very personal and real picture of behind the scenes events of Driscoll's experience planting Mars Hill.

It is a great read. I got a PDF version of it a few months ago and devoured it in two days. There are many useful things that come out of this book but Driscoll's understanding of missional ecclesiology was by far the most helpful for me.
