It appears the whole Osteen airline incident has sparked a feeding frenzy for the movie rights on the story.
Fortunately for all of us, I have prevailed.
For people like Joe Thorn who haven't even heard of this incident, you can read about it here, or here, or maybe here, or here.
What a hoot!

Man, I haven't even seen the movie your poster parodies. I'm WAY out of the loop.

It's an airplane movie where something bad happens. You are a movie buff, certainly you know that much from the trailer.

Yeah, I know all about the movie. I was following the production while it was being shot. In fact, I told you about the flick. :) My point was that I have not seen it - another way I am out of touch with my culture due to my hermit-like lifestyle.

Oh, Joe is getting testy.
You didn't tell me about the movie, buddy. I first heard though a teaser. I was telling you about it when we were in Algonquin and saw a poster near the Old Navy. But you can believe what you like. I think you are thinking about how you told me all about Chicken Little. LOL

I have decided to ban Joe, because of his long, critical response to my post. Who wants to be banned next?!
Posted by: Steve McCoy | 12/23/2005 at 01:36 PM
HAHAHAHA. Your attention please, the previous comment was Joe impersonating a taller and more handsome pastor. Very funny.
Posted by: Steve McCoy | 12/23/2005 at 01:39 PM
Ok, THAT was Joe impersonating me after I banned him. Please, I am the REAL McCoy.
Posted by: Steve McCoy | 12/23/2005 at 01:40 PM
There's only way we can find out who the real McCoy is. We have to take my 2 year old and see who agrees to rip him in half and who would rather he live, even if not with his father. That is the real McCoy.

I just checked back in to find Steve pretending to be me pretending to be Steve - all to make me look bad. Steve, I don't need help. Go work on your sermon.

You two confuse me more than I have ever been...

Hey, did anyone ever read the transcript or see the interview with Joel Olsteen and Larry King???
Just curious if anyone else saw how unbelievably willing he was to deny the Lordship of Jesus Christ?
Posted by: Marcguyver | 12/25/2005 at 01:33 AM
He later did apologize about what he said on Larry King Live. Still, it was very disturbing at the time, kind of painful to watch. The Larry King Live interview revealed two significant weaknesses: (1) He always wants to be positive, all the time, and never speak a condemning word. The problem is, we can't be positive all the time and still be faithful to Scripture, for Scripture is full of condemnations (Jesus talked more about hell than He did about heaven). (2) Osteen is still a theological neophyte. He said, "I don't know" over and over again. He never went to seminary, and he does not appear to have compensated by a significant program of self-study. A lot of people try to defend Osteen by saying, "He is just a motivating speaker and doens't need to know that much theology." But he is a PASTOR (and a teacher to hundreds of thousands, even millions of people). A pastor should be able to teach and defend the truth.

That's just it though Hutch I think, he's just a motivational speaker. At least that's what his sermons sound like.
Don't hear a whole lot of scripture being tossed around; just "feel good" Christianity.

Love the poster!

That has been my experience with Olsteen as well. It is a dangerous place to be when you put aside scripture and Truth for something that is more palatable to people's ears. Brings to mind 2 Timothy 4:3-4 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths."
The Lord has been convicting me lately of leaning on my own personal-doctorine/experiences. We must support our beliefs with scripture and point others to the Truth of His Word. Otherwise we run this risk of stealing the glory from the Lord, and leading people into a "love yourself" doctorine of faith; which I'm sure you'll agree Dr. Phil and Oprah have more than covered. We need to pray for Olsteen's heart and ministry.

Dan, that was exactly the verse I was thinking of. Maybe the "Truth" of the gospel is just too confrontational nowadays and just won't fill up the seats on Sunday mornings.

Too funny - ah, the joys of photoshop!
