Lance Armstrong and Sheryl Crow will no longer be soaking up the sun together. I guess Lance wasn't strong enough to be her man. Everyday was a winding road in this Sportywood relationship, but if it makes them happy to split up then they need to get away like Steve McQueen in a fast machine.
Oh, the first cut is the deepest. Does anyone have a tissue?
What an idiot Lance must be. I'm still shaking my head about him leaving his first wife.

If I'm not mistaken, "the first cut is the deepest" is Avril Lavigne, not Sherryl Crowe. Unless Lavigne did a remix of an older Crowe song.
But anyway... I never was into Sherryl Crowe.

Ryan, you need to get your fake skateboarders and fake surfers in order.

na na... na na na na na na.
Posted by: Joe Kennedy | 02/04/2006 at 01:24 AM
Both of you need to get something really in order.
Yes, Crowe did COVER that song, but it is a Cat Stevens song. I had to take McKnight to task about this tune earlier. I thought since the original was written during his days, he would remember it, but alas, no. He had never even heard of Cat Stevens.

i'm 24 and i've heard of cat stevens... before this post, even!

I guess he wants to play the peloton.

I know of Cat Stevens, but Cat Stevens didn't just ditch Lance Armstrong. And I know Avril didn't ditch him either.

And of course we all know that the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens is now Yusuf Islam, and on the terror watch list...which has absolutely nothing to do with any of this.

Joel - the question is, is Lance now shaking his head, and asking himself, "What was I thinking when I left the mother of my children?"
Posted by: Steve W | 02/04/2006 at 11:07 AM
I think Lance is probably happy he at least got Sheryl to get his GTO on "Overhaulin'" before they split.
Posted by: Steve McCoy | 02/04/2006 at 11:15 AM
Don't you mean, "Her 2nd Favorite Mistake"?
Posted by: Tim Ellsworth | 02/04/2006 at 11:40 AM
Dangit. Shutup Ellsworth. :)
Posted by: Steve McCoy | 02/04/2006 at 11:50 AM
Sorry.
Of course, who knows the dynamics involved here. Maybe Lance has taken over as her favorite mistake.
Posted by: Tim Ellsworth | 02/04/2006 at 12:00 PM
Very possible. But I was thinking in terms of order, not degree.
Personally, my take, they were just too skinny for each other.

Obviously, seven years of racing a bike up the mountains of France and battling cancer were insufficient to prepare Armstrong for the type of endurance it would take to listen to Sheryl Crowe songs that often.
I've got a feeling, he's not the only one.

ha, ha, ha, ha, that was sweet Matthew! :)
Ya, this guy is a dope; I guess he'll have to start wondering if anyone else out there will be willing to take a chance with him again. How the heck do you 'dump' the gal that fights cancer with you???

OK, I'll admit it. I had not heard of Cat Stevens. And here's my defense: when cats like Kevin Cawley were listening to folks like Cat Stevens I was either (1) lighting up my opponent in basketball or (2) in the library studying.
My music tastes have always been limited: I listen to Andrea Bocelli now (Sogno) and to YoYoMa, and to one song by Casting Crowns with a great chiasm (who am I?), and a bit to Fernando Ortega, esp when he sings about travelling and the Joshua tree song, and I did take Kris to here Celine Dion -- and on my wall in my office, in big size, is the Beatles.
But, good grief, why should I listen to Cat Stevens when I've got these good folks to listen to and books to read? If Steve McCoy would get out and play golf with me, I wouldn't even listen to them!
Now to be serious: I do feel sorry for the two of them (Lance and Crowe), and wish they had stuck together; even more, I wish he had never left his wife.

Scot-- I figured you were faithfully watching Steve's "Audiophile" list and downloading those albums from iTunes. I'm shocked...

I thought Rod Stewart sang that song. A little googling shows it came off his A NIGHT ON THE TOWN album.

Crowe sang "Favorite Mistake"? I thought that was Jewel...
Dang, I can't tell Jewel from Sheryll Crowe from Avril Lavigne.
Posted by: Ryan DeBarr | 02/04/2006 at 11:50 PM
Regarding her view on relationships, Crowe's comment was simply, "All I want to do is have some fun."

...until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard.

Steve,
Now tell me the truth: do you also like the Rolling Stones? (Super Bowl halftime)
Posted by: Scot McKnight | 02/05/2006 at 07:12 PM
I saw some of it Scot, but I told my wife, "I can't figure out why some people like the Rolling Stones."
Posted by: Steve McCoy | 02/05/2006 at 08:32 PM
witty. dig it.

Oh my goodness! I kept thinking to myself and to the others present with me..."This is the best the committe could come up with for 'half-time' entertainment?"
Come on...my kids almost laughed themselves into hysteria watching these clowns.
