Mark Driscoll's sermon on hospitality has been very helpful as my wife and I consider our missional calling in the suburbs/exurbs of Chicago. I encourage you to listen to it.

Thanks for the link. I am teaching I Peter 4:7-11 this Sunday and it has become clear to me how important hospitality is to our mission. Peter has just told these believers what to put off (I Peter 4:2-3) and then describes some of the rejection they will likely experience by those close to them (I Peter 4:4-5). It is this rejection by friends and family that makes it so vital that we be a community that practices hosptality to one another (I Peter 4:9). We are to put the old life and put on true community, not the (nonbiblical)individualistic nonsense that is so common in our culture.
