My wife and I leave this weekend for the Reform & Resurge Conference in Seattle. It's should be a spectacular time. If you are going and want to make sure we connect, please email me and we can swap cell numbers (pastorsteve [at] gmail [dot] com).
I'm also digging into Breaking the Missional Code by Ed Stetzer & David Putman. Anything Stetzer writes should be recommended reading for all missional guys. I would imagine it will also be excellent for anyone who needs to understand the missional concept, like anyone with "Baptist" in their church name. Hehe, c'mon, that was funny.
I hope to come back from Seattle with some great pictures, the experience of drinking a mocha at the original Starbucks, Spirit-led insights to rock my face off, and Tim Keller's Sharpie'd signature on my arm (so I can have it tattooed in later).
Okay, I'll settle for the first three.
Are you sure you shouldn't replace Joe's head with Tim's in that "Brokeback" photo you made?
Thanks for the tip on Stetzer's book. You're right. The guy's stuff is gold for us. Now I have to go get it. Yippee.

Steve,
I'll see you next week. I'm blogging on Ed's book now...

Hey, my church doesn't have "Baptist" in its name. Does that mean I'm missional?

Try to connect with Chris Mayfield who is starting a church in Seattle. Start-up was Easter - 150 plus in attendance. Chris and team are neat people - Baptist guy. You can visit www.jointhejourney.com.
I know - once a pimp....but it's not for me!

My wife and I were supposed to be going but had to cancel last week because some stuff came up.
I'll be blogging a two part review of Ed's book on my site in the next couple of days too.

Okay, I'll settle for the first three.
Somehow I'm thinking Dr. Keller will appreciate that! ;-)
Have a great trip, Steve!

I got to visit Seattle last fall and checked out the first starbucks. It was pretty cool. They have some sweet stuff to buy there too that you can't get elsewhere.
Have a good trip

Steve,
If you've got some extra time in Seattle, look me up - I'm local. I won't be at the conference, though. Have fun at the original Starbucks . . . but if you look me up, I'll take you to a REAL coffee shop (or three). I hope you and your wife enjoy the place I get to call home.

I wish I could make it down there for the whole conference, but since I have to work...I am going to try and catch some of it if possible. If I see you around town I will say Hi.

Steve, is there an independent music store you would recommend, like at Pike's Market?

I would recommend Sonic Boom in Fremont, cool and close enough to Mars Hill.

I'd echo Anthony's recommendation - Sonic Boom is a good place. There's another place in the U-District I like called Celophane Square, too. I'm not aware of any off the top of my head near Pike Place, but I don't hang out in that part of town very often. I'll keep thinking and let you know if something else comes up.

I have not read any of Ed Stetzer's books. I have pondered purchasing Planting New Churches In A Postmodern Age. Since you are recommending it my guess would be it is based more on the Bible than the latest commercial marketing scheme. Do you have any recommendations on which of his books to read first?

Keith, it really depends on what you are interested in. It seems to me, so far, this new book would be a better general intro to missional living.
