Ministry can be frustrating and exhausting. Whatever your work, I'm sure you've experienced much the same thing. Our recent vacation did little to alleviate my frustrations and I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out why. As usual what I needed more than time off was a fresh grasp of the Gospel.
For more on this head over to The High Calling you can read my new article, "Hello, My Name Is Van."
Nice article Steve. Thanks for the link. It was also cool to hear a bit more about your story.

Steve,
Thanks. This spoke to a need in my life.

Wow, I have to say that helped a little. I have been stressing out over work school and my lack of ministry. It is amazing how we can forget the little things that mean so much.

Sounds pretty familiar Steve. Good reminder in this article, glad your writing is being seen by a larger audience.
I've been reading Job as part of this year's readings so far and am reading Steven Lawson has to say in the Holman OT Commentary (I got it free at a conference....) as well. He looks at depression and ties it's defeat to gratitude. A good memory and grateful heart go a long way to warding off some of the "stuff."

Wow, after the last few weeks, you floor me. I needed that. Work is so stressful and wears (or wares) on my testimony. Thanks, Bud.

Great reminder Steve. We do all need breaks and sometimes completely forgetting all of the problems others expect to solve can wait. God is the healer not us sometimes we are the vehicle for that healing.

Thanks for the article. I now work with Baptist Collegiate Ministries in Carbondale and it was awesome to hear a story from the past about how God moved through what seemed like an inconsequential two word reply.
I love how Christ said that we will find rest for our souls when we take His yoke, a device of labor, onto ourselves.
