I first heard through Charlie Pharis that Tim Keller (Tim Keller Resources) has an article in the Cutting Edge, a Vineyard church planting publication, but it wasn't online. Now it is. Read Keller's article on "Our New Global Culture: Ministry in Major City-Centers." Looks like some other good articles there too, and Cawley has a list of Keller's points.
Steve,
This is a great article. If you are familiar with Keller's thought, it is a great encompassing of things you've probably heard him say before. If not, great introduction.
Furthermore, I think Keller does something that is genius - very Pauline. Especially being PCA. For the sake of Mission, he is willing to do and say things that push the edges of the denominations comfort zones concerning doctrine and ecclessiology. The SBC could take some notes from him I think. He gets away with it because he is "elder" and he is extremely extremely successful in the hardest city in the world to be successful in.

Now don't get me wrong, i LOVE Tim Keller and have profited greatly from his ministry, but i couldn't help but notice that "poor blacks" are omitted from his list of "Who lives in the city-centers?" Ironically, his list is biased in favor of the middle-class! Has the demographic make-up of NYC changed since the last time i visited?
