My wife and I both have degrees from Southern Illinois University (1993, 1994), so we are excited to see that the Salukis have made it to the Sweet 16 thanks to a "suffocating defense." They decisively beat Virginia Tech yesterday 63-48. I missed the end of the game because they were looking so unbeatable that they switched to another game on TV. Now they move on to play Kansas, the #1 ranked team in the West.
It's especially cool for us because the coach of SIU is Chris Lowery, the point guard of the Salukis when we were dating in college and attending every home game. One season we had like 4th row mid-court tickets.
Go Salukis!
Man I am torn with this game, grew up in Wichita and have a degree from Wichita State, so I am always pulling for MO Valley teams, pulled for Bradley last year against KU, but this time I am living in KC, KS I think I will have to pull for the Hawks but won't be upset if the Salukis win this one.

I'll be rooting for your Salukis. Too bad that Quin Snyder (before he was axed) didn't see that Jamal Tatum, who lived 30 min. away in Jefferson City, MO was a player and offer him a scholarship to Mizzou. Your gain, though.

Many in my church are disappointeded. We have several VA Tech students in our church and several Tech Alumni. We have a lot Tech fans that attend a lot of the games. With that said, its good your Alma matter making it to the sweet sixteen.

Travis, trust me, I don't feel guilty. Tell your church members a message from me, "Boo hoo." ;) Thanks for the comments.

You once dated Chris Lowery?!

Go Salukis!!
My other team is Kentucky, so it would be nice to see SIU knock the Jayhawks out after the beat down on Sunday.
(By the way Steve, you have an open invitation to come to Carbondale and speak to our BCM students anytime you want to make the trip down.)

Scott, I only dated Chris for a while. Just didn't work out. He always wanted to lead when dancing, and I just couldn't have that.
