Live Blogging Nowhere Near the 2007 SBC - The End
Joe Thorn has finished a day of photoblogging, and it's time for me to close out my day of live-blogging (which, by the way, was lived nowhere near the SBC in San Antonio). I'm still nowhere near San Antonio. I'm...

Salt and Light
God intends us to penetrate the world. Christian salt has no business to remain snugly in elegant little ecclesiastical salt cellars; our place is to be rubbed into the secular community, as salt is rubbed into meat, to stop it...

Spiritual Disciplines: Abstinence & Engagement
Steve,
Just like your Tim Keller post of sermons, I have collected a list of Ed Stetzer sermons on my blog.

Sincerely,
Paul Schafer

Steve,
Stetzer did a great job. I loved your previous posts about San Antonio, by the way. You nailed it! I have now been to two of these things and that is enough for a lifetime. Apparently, it is for everyone else as well - there were only 8,500 people registered and no more than 5,000 in any session. You aren't the only one to see through all of this junk.
Anyway, thanks for making me laugh.
By the way, I am praying for Molly. When my son Caelan got cancer last year, the emotions were overwhelming. Still, I cannot imagine what it would be like if my wife got sick that way. Molly, you, and your family are in my prayers. I mean that.

Good clip. I really like Setzer the more I hear from him and am looking forward to reading his "Planting Missional Churches" soon. His little quip at the end about feeling skinny had me laughing as well.

Steve,
Ditto Alan's post.
I skipped the evening session to spend time with my brother in SA, but had been looking for Stetzer's message online.
Anybody get the whole thing?

The last SBC convention I went to was in Philadelphia (with my dad a pastor) when I was a young boy (5th/6th grade about 30 years ago). I remember sleeping in the convention hall during some of the sessions -- looking back that was probably the most productive thing I did. I wish some of the other folks there had taken a nap too.
I remember my dad blowing off several -- OK most -- of the sessions to take me to see Independence Hall, the Ben Franklin Institute and some other city sites -- looking back that was his most productive use of the time too. To spend it with his son doing something fun together.
When they have an SBC meeting in Chicago maybe I'll see if I can get our church to elect me as a messenger so I'll have a reason to visit all the cool stuff in Chicago (Art Museum, Planitarium, Natural History Museum, Technology and Industry Museum, Michagan Avenue, etc.) with my family and create a memory that will last a lifetime.
