I wanted to send a quick shout out about Dan Cruver of Eucatastrophe, who has recently started working with Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency. I first got to know Dan about a year and a half ago. He emailed me about some Keller stuff and we have kept up on each other's blogs ever since.
My wife and I have considered adopting in the past, and we may revisit that idea again someday. It's good to know guys like Dan are working to bring small "r" redemption to little ones around the world. He writes on his blog...
My responsibilities are (1) networking with pastors/churches, mission agencies, children’s homes, and other organizations to inform them of Carolina Hope’s established full-service adoption ministry; (2) speaking in churches, Bible study groups, and other venues to present adoption within the context of the larger story of redemption; and (3) writing content for Carolina Hope’s website and articles for publication. If you know of a ministry that might be interested in having me come to speak on orphan ministry in general and adoption in particular, please let me know.
I hope by mentioning Dan's ministry here that someone might be able to connect with his ministry.
Dan will also be blogging about adoptions - theological and earthly - on a regular basis. To see what he's already written, check out www.CarolinaHopeAdoption.org/blog.

Thanks for this Steve.
I have tried to research this topic some on-line and found Bethany Christian Adoption Services. They say they are the biggest adoption/family services agency in the US. Know anything about them?

Our pastor and his wife adopted two children through Bethany. Both were open adoptions and the agency was great throughout the process. Being one of the wife's prayer partners, I was truly blessed and awed to watch God work from the time they determined to adopt to bringing the babies home. It was pretty amazing. Getting teary-eyed thinking about it.

We're currently adopting from Guatemala through Bethany and are very pleased with them. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks, Steve, for the kind post. If anyone has any questions about adoption in general or Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency in particular, please feel free to e-mail us. My e-mail is danc(at)CarolinaHopeAdoption.org. Our desire is not only to educate people about child adoption but also theological (i.e. spiritual) adoption. One of my primary responsibilities is to to help Christians increasingly think about orphan ministry and adoption from a gospel-centered perspective. Carolina Hope has commissioned me to explore and articulate the beautiful gospel-connection between uppercase Adoption (i.e. God's gracious adoption of us) and lowercase adoption (i.e. our adoption of a child) so that Christians become more firmly grounded in the gospel and grow in their understanding of its profound implications for all of life.
Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

Thank you so much for this post and to Dan for his focused committment. I will check out his blog for sure. 2.5 years ago we said yes to the incredible adventure of adoption and brought home our beautiful daughter from China in March. The adoption process has had a huge impact on our walk with God, and his changed the way we see every part of our lives. Read "Fields of the Fatherless" by Tom Davis if you haven't already. It can be read in a matter of hours.

Steve,
Thanks for this reference and accompanying link. We have been in prayer for a few months, and are continuing to pray about this option, and have begun to gather information and resources. What a great surprise to learn of such a great organization located just blocks from where we started a church six years ago!
We will definitely be paying these guys a visit when we visit our families in SC this Christmas. Thanks again!
