Church discipline needs to become a daily reality in which rebuke and exhortation are normal. Without this, any form of confrontation will itself create a sense of crisis.

Steve,
Thanks for the reminder! A people-pleaser like me can never hear this too much.
This was also helpful from Paul Tripp: "Confrontation is meant to be more of a lifestyle than an unusual event. Confrontation is difficult when it is not a normal part of our experience. Sometimes it is so rare that we lack the neccessary understanding, expectations, and skills." (Instruments in the Redeemer's Hands, p. 204)
Confrontation as a lifestyle, not an unusual event. Nice.
Erick.

Steve,
Great quote. If the book is like this throughout, I gotta get it.
