Did anyone get Radiohead's new one, In Rainbows, as a download? Those who signed up for it (at a "name your own price" price, including "free" if you like) received an email last night with a zip file of In Rainbows. It's good.
Follow Pitchfork's guide to In Rainbows with lots of videos. Stereogum has a nice thread where folks can comment on the album, including what they paid.
I ordered the download last week. So far, it sounds like a great album. I was hoping that the bit rate was a little higher (it is 160 kbps), but I will buy the CD if/when it comes out.

Same here Ryan. The download is merely a free bonus for me. I'll buy the CD in January.

Despite not being an huge Radiohead fan, I went ahead and purchased the album as a direct download in support of their distribution model. As it turns out, I was pleasantly surprised--I hadn't listened to Radiohead in awhile, and I really enjoyed this album in its entirety.

Brad, the email said...
"We are sending this email to all the coolest Radiohead fans first. Feel free to laugh at the dopes who complain about not getting an email."
LOL. Sorry bro, I know it's frustrating.
The title line is: "DOWNLOAD IN RAINBOWS - DO NOT REPLY"
The email starts with...
"THANK YOU FOR ORDERING 'IN RAINBOWS'.
THE LINK BELOW IS YOUR UNIQUE DOWNLOAD ACTIVATION CODE."

Ha! Dude, I'm frustrated. Haven't seen anything yet. And when I try to do it again, it says "Only 1 per customer" as if I'm in their system already...

Brad, I would try to remove their cookie from your computer and try again. Or work harder at being cool.

In your browser (Firefox, please tell me you've heard of Firefox!) go to "tools," "options," "privacy," "show cookies" and find the ones from the Radiohead site and delete them.
