Trevin Wax has done some excellent work on N.T. Wright. Here's an interview with Wright, and a list of links to Trevin's 18 part review of John Piper's critique of Wright.
There's a new book coming out called Why We're Not Emergent (By Two Guys Who Should Be). It seems from the sample chapter I read and blurbs on the back of the book that this book is going into the pile of folks who miss the point and encourage others to do the same. I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like I'm not. Look for yourself.
Satan fears small churches more than megachurches.
Looking forward to some new Schreiner: New Testament Theology.
M'Cheyne Bible reading plan with resources. Don't forget the ESV online Bible reading plans with Scripture, including M'Cheyne. The Crossway folks have also provided a way to read the Bible/devotions/reading plan on your mobile phone. Great resource.
thanks for the link on the emergent book. i agree with you. i'm not sure how "they should be" emergent simply because of their age or profession. i know plenty of 16 year old, 21 year old, and 30 year old guys who exist in a modern framework as fully as any 80 year old rural pastor. i'll give the content and their critique of emergent the benefit of the doubt since i haven't read it, but if the website, chapters, excerpts, and table of contents is any indication . . . it sounds more like they are trying to capitalize and sell some books.

Josh, I agree. The whole "they should be" thing just shows how much they don't get the EC.

re: Why We're Not Emergent (By Two Guys Who Should Be)
This book looks like it will miss the nail about as badly as Carson missed with his. A far better title for this book would be "Why I Don't Endorse Emergentvillage.com " or "My Take on the Left Wing of the Emerging Church"
Carson's book (as much as I admire him) on the Emerging Church has been rightly criticized (by Scot McKnight for one) as being far too narrow in focus for its title. This, I believe, is fundamentally a marketing issue. The book is not so much about the Emerging Church as it is about Brian McLaren. The problem is that the Emerging Church is about far more than McLaren. McLaren is a major player, but only on one side of the movement.

I'm trying to get a review copy of that book. Looks like they're a bit winsome in any case. Maybe it's the fact that I'm getting conditioned to really bad coverage (hello, Truth War) but this looks relatively good in comparison. We'll see.

An Emergent book written by "DeYoung and Kluck"?
Shouldn't that be "DeYoung and DeRestless"?
Sorry, I couldn't resist!
