You heard me. McDonalds is Chick-fil-A for notherners who can't get Chick-fil-A's delectable chicken sandwich up here. You should try the new Southern Style Chicken Sandwich at Micky D's, or the chicken biscuit in the morning. It's not Chick-fil-A, but it's the closest thing we've got. And it's pretty doggone good.
Bro, I feel for you... CFA is a multiple-times-per-week stop at our house. My 2 yr. old announces it each time we pass one in the car.

I live in the South and there are no Chik-Fil-A's in my town. But even if there were, their prices are astronomic these days! So if I DO get hungry for one, I'll probably just get the McDonald's variety!
If your McDonald's has
1. Southern Style Chicken
2. Caramel Latte
3. Breakfast Bagels
That's a hard combination to beat!

You live in the South AND you don't have Chick-fil-A? How do you even get out of bed in the morning? ;)

I don't know if it is everywhere but in Cleveland McDonald's has sweet tea now as well.
In fact I was in Florida last week and stopped by to eat at chick-fil-a and told the manager that McDonald's was trying to be as cool as them with the bringing sweet tea to the north. He got a kick out of it.

We've got Chik-Fil-A here, but funny how the times you're craving it is always on a Sunday...
McDonald's makes a decent stand-in for us heathens who would dare buy fast food on the Lord's Day.

Steve,
Did you read the Crowder book (Praise Habit, I think) where a Chic-fil-A sandwich led him to Christ?
There's one in Racine. It's in a tiny little mall. Let's go. I'm not kidding.
Favorite thing to order? I like the chicken strips WITH an extra bun. Four ketchup packets, two packets mayo: put 1/2 on bun, and the rest with your waffle fries.

eww. I got the Sweet tea and southern style chicken deal for $1 the other day. I thought the chicken was good, but I didn't like the soggy bun. McD's sweet tea is epic. I've consumed gallons of it.

Back before the doctor took me off caffeine, McDonalds' sweet tea was part of my daily life; my wife still drinks it just to torment me.
Thankfully, there's a CFA about a half hour south of here, so I can still get my fix. Living in Atlanta for five years spoiled me, though. And McDonalds' southern style chicken biscuit is a poor substitute for CFA.

Blasphemer.

are you sure they are cruelty free chickens?

Jacob, sweet tea = yuck. Sorry, I just can't drink it. My wife gets regular IV's of sweet tea, though.
Art, I understand why you see this as chicken idolatry. I really do. I see it as eating chicken in a mirror dimly until one day I can eat chicken again face to face.
TSK, are they cruelty free chickens? We're talking about McDonalds, bro. I'm not even sure they are chickens.

I have not tried the Southern Style Chicken Sandwich (though I will on your suggestion), but I also find it hard that it comes anywhere near Chick-fil-a. One of the things I miss most about living up here is the lack of Chick-fil-a; though I have considered driving to Racine for the sole purpose of getting a chicken sandwich, but that makes for one expensive lunch.

I can't figure out why I like Chick-Fil-A so much. In fact, when I first moved to the south I couldn't fathom what the big deal was. There's not much to it really. Just a piece of chicken, a few pickles, on a soggy bun. What's up with that? And yet I crave it nightly!
Beyond the quality of food, I do appreciate the simplicity of the menu. There's something very attractive about that in today's crazy world. I also take pleasure in patronizing a business that respects its employees enough to give them a full day off each week.
And finally, I totally dig the fact that everyone says "my pleasure" like a mantra. Sometimes I even test them by looking for reasons to say "thank you" to thereby illicit the token response. Too funny!

Jacob,
That wasn't soggy. It was buttery goodness.
And Steve, don't let Art rob your joy. I tried McD's version the other day and liked it. I also closed my eyes and imagined that all the construction workers on their lunch break were mini-van driving, toddler toting moms in workout gear. That made it taste even more authentic.

Well, Steve, in preparation for the pending move to the land of no Chick-Fil-A, I tried the McD version tonight based on your recommendation. I must say I was impressed more than I expected. I can see this version standing in the gap while in Buffalo. Of course, if I can have Anchor Bar wings, beef on weck from Charlie the Butcher, or the many offerings of Jim's Steak Out, I don't know how often I will want it. But I can and will do it when I need a fix.

Nice to see some good responses to the sandwich. Thanks for the feedback. McDonalds, if you are listening, I could use some coupons or something for the effort!

Now if they could just get crackin' on some Southern Style Chicken Nuggets and do away with that vile abomination called the McNugget, they'd really be onto something.

Oh wow... anytime I fly anywhere with a CFA anywhere close I make whomever picks me up from the airport do a detour, this may at least help with the withdrawals a little.

Have you seen this at Stuff Christians Like blog about Chick Fil A? Pretty darn funny!

Well, I live down South where the nearest CFA is only 5-minutes from the house and I drive by it everyday to/from work so it is at least a 1/week stop for a breakfast fix and a dinner fix.
Last week I had cause to grab a McD sandwich while traveling "north of the border" ... and all I can say is it somewhat reminded me of Romans 3:23 -- especially the part about "falling short of the glory of God"
I have since returned to my little slice of southern heaven (at least that is what the UNC fans in nearby Chapel Hill call the triangle area) and repented of my sin by enjoying a CFA combo with a homespun cookies-and cream milkshake under the umbrella of 1 Corinthians 10:30

I agree with Warren...this is heresy.
And didn't you watch Super Size Me?

I would go to Wendy's for a chicken sandwich any day before McD's. Chick-fil-A is definitely the winner, followed by Rockford's Beefaroo.

Oh, and you have to remember that CfA is cooked in peanut oil, which is way better than whatever McDonald's uses, I'm sure.
