Looking for a great record store? Paste lists the 17 coolest. Yep, the wonderful ear X-tacy in Louisville, KY is on the list.
I don't think I mentioned yet that Esbjorn Svensson, the Swedish jazz pianist who founded E.S.T., died last week. He was only 44. More here.
Still haven't checked out Shearwater? What's wrong with you! I'm gonna make it easy: Shearwater in concert free audio.
Fans of Radiohead, Weezer, stringed instruments, or things that are honkin' awesome need to watch this video of Weezer covering Radiohead's "Creep" with a bunch of fans playing along. It's just really cool. If you don't know, the song "Creep" contains an objectionable word that may offend some. If you might be offended, don't watch. If you watch movies that are PG-13, you should be able to handle this. Either way, if you are offended please don't comment. Enjoy...
Weezer cover Radiohead's Creep, live in Portland from Dave Allen on Vimeo.
More Bon Iver for those who can't get enough. This time, "Skinny Love"...
And Wolves...
Dang. Bon Iver is my fave. I took a short break at work to watch the video...the first chorus just rocked my face off.
I will certainly be re-posting with a little HT action back at ya.

"Objectionable" words? I should just tell you to hush. You're making me feel ashamed I didn't post the actual Lady Picture Show video instead of a live performance. ;-)

Btw, Steve -- do you ever tune in to Radio Paradise? I think you might enjoy its tasteful eclecticism. Or something. :)

Speaking of cool music stores, I'm partial to New Orleans music and Louisiana Music Factory as well as Louie's Juke Joint are two excellent shops with an online presence as well. Plenty of New Orleans music and Louisiana music of all genres.

Steve, have you checked this out, yet? Looks like they've got 5 live Bon Iver songs up (scroll down to May 13).

Yep, very sad about Esbjorn Svensson's death. He was definitely my favourite jazz musician. Any of e.s.t's albums are pure gold. And he was a genuinely good guy. Saw them live in Australia twice. My comfort this week after hearing about Esbjorn's sudden death: if God is the source of all that's good and beautiful (and He is), then He gave Esbjorn and everyone else these fantastic gifts that we enjoy continually. And if Svennson's music (and Bon Iver, etc.) put out such beautiful music: how great and beautiful God must be as the Source of that beauty.
But I'm so sad about Esbjorn...

David, never heard of Radio Paradise. I'll check it out.
Amos, that Bon Iver video doesn't look familiar. Thanks man. Yet another link toward BI goodness.
