Quick Molly & Elijah Update: Molly has had a few really great days. Better balance, more energy, more driving with less danger, etc. Very excited. Maybe finally catching up on sleep is doing something. Elijah had a 102+ fever for 6 days, which included several hours at the hospital for IV fluids, but is back to his normal self. So glad for that.
In 2 days the Catalyst One Day Conference hits Granger, Indiana. If you are nearby you should go. Should be great, and I believe registration is still open. I'm actually still considering going, but haven't decided yet.
I've been dealing with male leadership in the home with some church members recently. Here are some complementarian resources I've found helpful on this issue from The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood website...
Fifty Crucial Questions (John Piper)
Summaries of the Egalitarian and Complementarian Positions (Bruce Ware)
We Need Some Leaders! (Bob Lepine)
Download Driscoll's Porn-Again Christian in full.
Desiring God's 2009 Pastor's Conference is on evangelism.
Tim Chester has provided a narrative statement of faith. (HT)
Resurgence; Six ways to engage culture.
Thanks for the CBMW resources - it was also good timing for me since I'm preaching from Eph. 5:21f this week.
I'm curious to how you're handling the issues of male headship (since you probably do not just prescribe the book by Piper & Grudem!). Have you gotten as specific as Driscoll and his wife, Grace, with the Titus 2:5 description of womanhood, as well? Or have you handled that? Have you met with your guys about this? I think we each have similar looking churches we pastor, so I'm curious on your approach outside a large church context. This may be a longer discussion than a comment on a blog, but if you have some time, send me an email or give me a ring (via Facebook).

I'd be interested in your approach to the male headship stuff, too... so maybe it could be a blog post instead of on Facebook?
Also, still praying for Molly, and praise God for Elijah's recovery.

Don't give up hope. We were where you are 3 months ago. My daughter had been decompressed by the best (Frim), later showed elevated pressure and was shunted, and then continued to get much worse. She was no longer walking, no longer in school, no longer able to do anything but lie in bed/be admitted to the hospital for sedation for pain control. In September, she had her 'head hacked open again' as a last ditch effort, much not seen on MRI was corrected, and she is better than she has been in three years. Keep the faith. Life can be good again. We'll be praying for Molly and you.

Sorry for the delayed response to your comments. My view is pretty straightforward complementarian and mostly right in line with CBMW. Nothing fancy here. I teach it directly, and had to be very direct in discipleship in the last week with a church leader.

Hey Steve I wanted to say thanks for the Driscoll download. I wish I had this kind of resource when I was in high school! It would have saved me much heart ache. Appreciate your blog and am in prayer for your wife and family.
