Wow, this is not good. I know a lot of folks didn't like Infinite Arms, but it grew on me after the first few listens. But this one feels really half-baked, like it's a collection of early studio sketches. Trying to like it but it's just not happening for me!

I'm a huge fan of early BOH, not so much the last album. But I have to admit, so far I'm liking this one. I hear a lot of Neil Young. It's just different for me. There are a few songs I'm a bit *meh* on, but surprised I liked it as much as I did the first time through.

I loved Cease to Begin and Everything All in Time, but didn't care for Infinite Arms. However, I think Mirage is a solid offering. Knock Knock is a catchy single, and they chanel some Neil Young in the opening track. Bridwell's voice and harmonies remain their best selling point for me, matched with their low-fi sound and the way they straddle folk, southern rock, and alternative genres. Loved "Feud" and "Shut in Tourist" as well. I thought "Electric Music" and "A Little Biblical" sounded like b-sides. So all in all, between Buy, Borrow, or Burn....I'd buy. It doesnt have any "Ghost" or "Noone's Gonna Love You" or "St. Augustine" but there are some songs I'd like to see them play live, and more and more, that is the best part of this band...their live stuff. Nothing radio friendly here.

I Go to the Barn Because The... is my favorite BOH song.
This album has none of that flavor.
So, meh...
Reminds me of how I really like The National's High Violet, but really dislike Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers

Infinite Arms definitely had more in common with the previous two records than this one does with either Infinite Arms or those previous two. Definitely more of an exploration here than their past efforts. The song that starts off sounding like America and goes all grungy is just....weird.
